IGBA Criticizes Export Restrictions

Supply Disruptions Are Counter-Productive During Coronavirus Crisis

National export restrictions on medicines have been slammed by the international off-patent pharmaceutical industry as being “counter-productive” during the coronavirus crisis. The IGBA is instead urging international co-operation and transparency, pointing to a positive example of supply-chain connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region.

Restrictions on pharmaceutical exports imposed by countries in the context of the coronavirus pandemic are “counter-productive in responding to a global public health crisis,” the International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association has warned.
