NGO Cruelty Free International continues to fight for tougher controls on animal testing under the EU’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals regulation, seeing opportunity for reforms now that deadlines have elapsed for phase-in substances.

May 31 marked industry’s final opportunity for registering existing substances in the EU, specifically those manufactured or marketed in volumes of 1 ton to 100 tons annually, following previous deadlines for higher-tonnage chemicals beginning in late 2010
