More Asbestos-Linked Makeup Recalls Ring Regulatory Legislation Bell Again

Claire’s Stores Inc. voluntarily recalled one lot of JoJo Siwa Makeup Set and private-label manufacturer Beauty Plus Global Inc. recalled one lot of Contour Effects Palette 2. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone says it is “unacceptable” for FDA to rely on voluntary recalls and he is working on legislation that would overhaul cosmetics regulations and give agency mandatory recall authority.

Recent findings of traces of asbestos in additional talc-based cosmetic products renew calls for strengthening the US Food and Drug Administration's cosmetic regulatory oversight, including authority to mandate recalls and to require product warnings.
