“Better regulation of cannabis derivatives” in the US has “been historically underfunded,” says the Food and Drug Administration in a report provided with its fiscal year 2021 budget request that includes $5m for regulating the substances’ use in dietary supplements and in food and feed additives.

“Since this is for fiscal year 2021, hopefully that means that FDA is going to resolve the legality of [cannabidiol] in supplements before then so that this could be used to clean up the marketplace,” said
