California DTSC Seeks Information On Nail-Care Product Content, ‘Green’ Alternatives

California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control is collecting data on nail product ingredients, impurities and purported “green” or “safer” alternatives via an information call-in, which could lead to Priority Product listings or support alternatives assessment activities under the state’s Safer Consumer Products regulation. Companies do not have to answer the call, but the DTSC will be posting a Response Status List.

California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control is going straight to the source for data regarding nail products sold in the state via an information call-in, with a 20 December deadline for responses.

The DTSC, which administers the state’s Safer Consumer Products (SCP) program, already has proposed nail products containing toluene and nail products containing methyl methacrylate as potential Priority Products for alternatives assessments and, ultimately, bans, restrictions or other risk management measures
