Recalls Have US FDA Looking At Nutritional Beverage Firms’ Microbial Contamination Controls

Lyons Magnus recalling 53 nutritional and other beverage products due to potential for microbial contamination, including same type linked to infant formula recall. FDA says reports of potential or confirmed unsafe bacterial levels led it to review its inspection records and industry's practices for preventing contaminations.

The same type of bacteria linked to the recall causing the ongoing US infant formula shortage is among the causes of a separate recall of nutritional products for older children and adults along with other beverages.

Due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii, Lyons Magnus LLC is recalling 53 dairy and non-dairy products it markets under its own brand or that its manufacturing consumers market under their brands
