OTC Hearing Aids Just As Good As Prescription, Study Finds

Over-the-counter hearing aids provide the same benefit to people with mild to moderate hearing loss as devices prescribed by a professional audiologist, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.

The Food and Drug Administration created the OTC category in October, allowing consumers to purchase hearing aids for mild to moderate hearing loss without a prescription or prior exam
