Sun-protection ingredients homosalate and 2-ethylhexyl salicylate and other chemicals used exclusively in cosmetics in the European Union can be subject to mandatory animal testing to assess environmental and human health endpoints under the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation.
