Linda Katz, director of the FDA’s Office of Cosmetics and Colors, touched on cosmetics modernization legislation in her 21 September presentation on agency priorities at the Independent Beauty Association’s virtual FDA Cosmetics Regulations Workshop.

The US Food and Drug Administration continues to consider scientific opinions from an interagency working group on the testing of talc-containing cosmetics, and talc intended for use in cosmetics, for the possible presence of asbestos, which could inform future guidance or rulemaking on the subject.
