FDA Commish Califf Says MoCRA Implementation ‘Moving Along Well,’ Will Cost $40M Over Time

US Commissioner of food and drugs Robert Califf told the Senate Appropriations Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA and Related Agencies Subcommittee that FDA is requesting $5m for implementation of cosmetics modernization for FY2024 and will seek $40m to complete the process in coming years.

The US Food and Drug Administration is asking for $5m to meet targets established by the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act for fiscal year 2024 alone. Eight times that amount will be needed to complete all work needed under the law, according to Commissioner of Food and Drugs Robert Califf.
