Nonprofit Truth in Advertising, Inc. (TINA.org) is asking the Federal Trade Commission and the attorneys general in California and Connecticut to open investigations into Colgate-Palmolive Co. toothpaste brands over possible greenwashing and violations of false advertising laws.
According to the advertising watchdog group, Colgate is promoting its namesake and Tom’s of Maine toothpastes as recyclable even though the tubes largely end up in landfills.
