Biogen Lures Viehbacher Back From Venture Capital As CEO

Christopher Viehbacher, former Sanofi CEO and current managing partner at Gurnet Capital, will be charged with returning Biogen to growth with a second big Alzheimer’s launch looming.

Biogen, Inc.'s next CEO will be former Sanofi CEO turned venture capitalist Christopher Viehbacher, who will step into a challenging role leading Biogen through an uncertain growth period and executing on a complicated Alzheimer's commercial strategy. The company announced on 10 November that Viehbacher will succeed Michel Vounatsos as president and CEO effective on 14 November.
