The US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has expanded Medicare telehealth coverage so seniors can communicate with their physicians and other providers in their homes without risking exposure to the coronavirus, the agency announced on 17 March.

In a change likely to expand use of telemedicine, clinicians will be reimbursed for remote conversations and services to Medicare beneficiaries for the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak, CMS administrator Seema Verma said on 17 March.
