Through its innovation labs, JLABS program and JLINX incubator effort, Johnson & Johnson is using a variety of methods to generate its own discovery work, but its Johnson & Johnson Innovation arm still looks significantly to the academic and institutional life sciences research sector for cutting-edge science and potential therapeutic advances as well.

The organization unveiled its latest set of research partnerships Jan. 5, just prior to the JP Morgan Healthcare conference in San Francisco, in part because it likes to update the field on its early-stage collaboration progress in tandem with major partnering meetings. In addition to debuting the first four companies hatched under the JLINX initiative, J&J Innovation also rolled out a quartet of translational research pacts during the omnibus announcement
