Focus On Switzerland – Part 1: Switzerland is a high-tech microcosm of the medtech industry. It is home to the EMEA headquarters of the world’s largest medtech group, Medtronic, and supports a vibrant SME and start-up community, in the example of hybrid soft tissue robotics company Distalmotion. Swiss medtech is transitioning into the next era of innovation, building on traditional strengths in whole supply chain, discovery, commercial, R&D, production and clinical trials. So says Switzerland Global Enterprise (SGE) director of investment promotion Sirpa Tsimal. “A lot of companies set up a regional headquarters, not just for the Swiss market but also as a hub for Europe or EMEA,” she said.
