EndoSonics has received US FDA 510(k) clearance to market its third generation intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheter, Avanar. The Rancho Cordova, California-based company said the device, which builds on its all digital IVUS product line, has improved integrated circuit technology to provide better images. The new catheter also has a smaller profile to allow easier and more rapid access through stents, tight lesions and small tortuous arteries.
