AMS CE marks male incontinence sling

American Medical Systems (AMS) has CE marked its AdVance Xtra Performance (XP) for sale in Europe. The device is a minimally-invasive sling for the treatment of male stress urinary incontinence, which can be a side-effect of therapy for prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. AdVance XP is the latest version of the firm's AdVance sling – improvements include a new mesh to improve the reproducibility of procedures, longer arms that are easier to use in larger patients, and tissue anchors that increase holding power during the healing period. AMS (Minnetonka, Minnesota) has also submitted an approval application for the device to the US FDA.
