The treatment of cancer has always been a complicated issue. While there are numerous ways available to treat tumors – surgery, radiotherapy and systemic chemotherapy – better detection methods have led companies to develop minimally invasive ablation techniques they hope will eventually become a viable alternative for treating smaller tumors.
According to a new report by Meddevicetracker, entitled "Oncology: Surgical Ablation Devices Market," the global market for cancer ablation devices is expected to reach $614m in 2022, up from $379m in 2017, representing a CAGR of 10%. This growth is driven in large part by the rising elderly population and the increasing incidence of cancer which is further fueled by cancer risk factors such as obesity and type II diabetes
