UK’s MHRA Gets £1.8 Million Charity Boost To Develop Mental Health App Regulation

The UK has yet to announce its new medical device regulations, much to the concern of industry. However, the MHRA has received a £1.8 million ($2m) funding boost from charitable research foundation for a regulatory development project focused on digital mental health apps.

The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), along with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), have received a funding injection of £1.8 million from the Wellcome Trust to address regulatory challenges around whether such software is a medical device or not, it was announced on 10 October.
