Medtronic Cuts Away More: Spins Off Patient Monitoring And Respiratory Business

Medtronic announced plans to spin off its patient monitoring and respiratory interventions businesses, which currently provide revenues of over $2bn a year. The company previously signaled plans to make significant changes to its business portfolio.

Medtronic will carve out its patient monitoring and respiratory interventions businesses, which are part of its broader medical surgical portfolio, the company announced on 24 October.

“We are executing on our portfolio management strategy, taking action to create value for Medtronic and our shareholders,” Medtronic CEO Geoff Martha said. The company told investors in early 2022 that it was considering divestitures consistent with the new operating model that Martha installed in 2020
