With every new website or app, there springs a new avenue for misinformation, and 10 years after it first addressed the topic, the US Food and Drug Administration has updated its advice for device and drug makers looking to combat it.

The 8 July guidance, Addressing Misinformation About Medical Devices and Prescription Drugs Questions and Answers Guidance for Industry, replaces a 2014 guidance document on correcting third-party misinformation on the internet and social media
