Roche has recruited a new chief medical officer and head of global product development from outside the company. Eli Lilly & Co.'s former senior VP-oncology R&D Levi Garraway has been appointed to succeed Sandra Horning as CMO and head of global product development effective 1 October.

Horning will retire from the company at the end of the year after a decade there,
