Men with prostate cancer are more likely to opt for novel proton beam radiation therapy than alternative treatments such as conventional radiotherapy, though their preference may be driven by the technology’s availability close to home, researchers reported Feb. 13 in the Archives of Internal Medicine. For the study, the treatment choices of roughly 20,000 men diagnosed with low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer between 2003 and 2006 were examined between various California hospital referral regions (HRR).
