Republicans Open Second Front to Repeal Device Tax With Budget

While two bills are already under consideration in the current Congress to repeal a 2.3 percent medical device tax instituted as part of the Affordable Care Act, GOP lawmakers have proposed budgets that would repeal the excise tax.

Congressional Republicans passed a $3.8 trillion House budget and approved a budget in the Senate Budget Committee that would repeal the controversial medical device tax. Both bills however have already hit strong headwind from Democrats and the Obama Administration, and some in the industry say there will likely be need for significant changes to the bills before they can be approved.
