Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc., the leader in the US shoulder replacement market, will soon compete with Wright Medical Group NV in the bone-sparing shoulder segment of the US orthopedics market.
US FDA 510(k)-clearedZimmer Biomet Holdings Inc.'s Sidus stem-free shoulder system for total shoulder arthroplasty, and the company plans to launch it in the US market within the first quarter, the company announced on Jan. 3. Sidus will compete with Wright's Simpliciti bone-sparing shoulder system. Simpliciti was originally developed by Tornier NV, and earned a 510(k) in March 2015 shortly before Wright acquired Tornier for $3.3bn
