Germany’s in vitro diagnostics (IVD) manufacturers are working round the clock to increase their output of tests to identify the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Last week, COVID-19 testing capacity reached 260,000 tests per week in Germany, according to the country’s association of accredited labs in medicine (ALM.ev).
That performance, which is likely to increase to 300,000 tests this week according to local sources, is the envy of health systems globally
