After a seven-year legal battle, Pfizer Inc. has agreed to settle a government complaint alleging its Wyeth subsidiary offered steep discounts to hospitals that purchased both its oral and IV Protonix (pantoprazole) acid-suppressant drugs while reporting higher prices to the government. The settlement could lead firms to be more careful in how they link pricing of their products in contracts.
