A new list of proposed higher tariffs on Chinese exports announced by the US Trade Representative's (USTR) Office is the latest move by the Trump administration to target selected goods made in China, in a brewing bilateral trade war in which the US is citing unfair trade practices such as forced technology transfers and a lack of intellectual property rights protection.
The move, separate from the US's earlier tariff increases on steel and aluminum from countries including China, could add to an already tense trade face-off between the world's two largest economies and is likely to trigger retaliation measures from Beijing
