Purdue Pharma LP's $270m settlement with Oklahoma to resolve the state's opioid suit is an indication of the financial commitments and compensation that opioid makers may provide to settle other cases, including the massive federal multidistrict litigation.
Purdue called the settlement a "landmark agreement" to advance the treatment of addiction. The company will pay $102.5m to fund creation of a National Center for Addiction Studies and Treatment at Oklahoma State University
