The World Health Organization has approved the designation of 33 new national and regional regulatory bodies as WHO-Listed Authorities (WLAs), bringing the total to 36 as of 13 May.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European medicines regulatory network (EMRN), which includes the European Commission, European Medicines Agency and 30 national European regulators, are the latest to be designated WLA status. This marks a significant jump from the initial three designations made in October last year, when the scheme was in a pilot phase
