US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf faced a barrage of ivermectin misinformation from Republican lawmakers 12 April, who suggested the agency’s years-old FDA communications warning against using ivermectin, particularly versions approved for animal use, to treat COVID-19, and the resulting court case, were evidence of the agency’s inability to be trusted.
“Pretending that ivermectin is dangerous or claiming that it’s horse medicine, would you not agree that’s the exact definition of misinformation,” Rep. Eric Burlison, R-MO, asked Califf at the House Oversight Committee hearing
