Vitamin E lowers non-fatal MI risk, but has no effect on CV-related death -- U.K. study.
VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENTATION REDUCES NON-FATAL MI RISK BY 77% in a U.K. trial involving 2,002 patients at high-risk for heart failure. In an article published in the March 23 issue of The Lancet, Nigel Stephens, University of Cambridge, et al., said that 400 IU and 800 IU daily doses of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) lowered patients' risk of non-fatal heart failure after about 200 days.
