FDA approved IvyBlock as an OTC skin protectant against poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac on Aug. 26. The bentoquatam 5% (quaternium-18 bentonite) lotion will be the first FDA-approved topical barrier lotion for the prevention of poison ivy/oak/sumac to reach the market. The firm filed the NDA in September 1994.
