Dannon Actimel Yogurt Drink May Not Make Structure/Function Claims - FDA

Dannon's Actimel yogurt breakfast drink with live L. casei culture is a conventional food, not a dietary supplement, and therefore may not make structure/ function claims appropriate for supplements, FDA tells the firm in an Aug. 26 "courtesy" letter. Actimel is sold in the U.S. in Phoenix and Denver, the firm's Web site, www.actimelusa.com, states. The product also is available in Europe.
