Stephen Spielberg, FDA deputy commissioner for medical products and tobacco, departs Feb. 15 and in March will become editor-in-chief of the Drug Information Association’s journal, “Therapeutic Innovation and Regulatory Science.” Associate Commissioner for Medical Products and Tobacco Leona Brenner-Gati will serve as acting deputy commissioner, FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said in a Jan. 22 email to agency staff. Spielberg joined FDA with a background that includes clinical and drug development positions at Merck & Co.
