Shanghai Customs authorities announced on 9 May they had intercepted over 200 human cell samples imported from overseas that had been disguised as other liquid cultures.
The importer, an unnamed biotech firm in Shanghai, was found to “hidden 247 reagents of human cells” and to “have repeatedly used a similar method to smuggle human cell samples,” an official notice stated
