England’s NICE Formalizes Faster Approach To Appraisals

NICE, the health technology appraisal body for England and Wales, has published the first update to its health technology evaluations manual setting out two of the pathways that form part of its new proportionate approach to assessments.

England’s health technology assessment (HTA) institute, NICE, has updated its health technology evaluations manual to formally outline how its new streamlined and cost-comparison pathways will work.

The new proportionate approach is intended to facilitate a “light-touch” for some appraisals, leading to faster evaluations of simple, lower-risk treatments, the HTA body has said. The update was made following a public consultation on the changes, which closed in July
