The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 was approved via voice vote by the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee May14; Avon says it has not received a buyout offer from PTG Capital Partners despite a May 13 SEC filing from the firm indicating as much. More news in brief.

The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee approved H.R. 1321, the Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015, by voice vote during a May 14 markup session. The bill would phase out the manufacture and sale of cosmetic products containing synthetic plastic microbeads. Despite a push by industry to have microbeads in OTC products wrapped into the bill, the subcommittee approved the bill as is ([A#02150511004]).
