Hemp Ingredient Filter Recommended Before Lawful Use Allowed In Supplements In US

Filling in the blanks for which ingredients qualify for definition of hemp could be as difficult and complicated as the question of lawful use, says food and drug attorneys. A DEA rule from legislation de-scheduling hemp left room for confusion on which substances qualify.

Establishing a regulation for lawful use of hemp ingredients in non-drug products subject to the US Food and Drug Administration’s oversight wasn’t the only question left unanswered when the 2018 farm bill de-scheduled hemp as a controlled substance.

It also would establish regulatory structure for using cannabinoids found naturally in hemp and allowing “semi-synthetic” ingredients while prohibiting artificial or fully synthetic cannabinoids.
