Several national and European Union variation applications have been received to change the wording of the recommendation of the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines during pregnancy, according to the minutes of the most recent meeting of the European Medicines Agency’s Coordination Group for Mutual Recognition and Decentralised Procedures - Human (CMDh) on 25-27 January 2022.
The submissions are based on a recent US Food and Drug Administration recommendation to avoid the use of NSAIDs in pregnancy at 20 weeks or later as they may cause rare but serious kidney problems in an unborn baby
