The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and other NGOs are calling for revisions to a US Senate proposal for modernizing cosmetics regulation in the US, urging lawmakers to focus on strengthening safety standards and modifying preemption provisions.
The US Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee released discussion draft legislation to reauthorize drug and medical device user fee programs on 17 May, and included in the proposal the “Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022” to overhaul the US Food and Drug Administration’s oversight of the cosmetics industry
