FDA Warning To “Formaldehyde-Free” Brazilian Blowout Cites High Methylene Glycol Levels

In an Aug. 22 warning letter, FDA says hair-smoothing product Brazilian Blowout Acai Professional Smoothing Solution is adulterated and misbranded as it contains high levels of methylene glycol, which converts to formaldehyde when heated, while product labeling states the product is free of formaldehyde.
