Colgate Bids To Expand U.S. Toothpaste Lineup Through FDA Rulemaking

Colgate seeks regulatory approval for a version of its Colgate Sensitive Multi-Protection toothpaste in a formulation it already markets internationally. The request made in a citizen petition comes after Colgate’s plan to expand its U.S. toothpaste business failed when FDA did not give approval for Sensitive Pro-Relief with arginine.

Colgate-Palmolive Co. seeks regulatory changes that would authorize U.S. sales of a toothpaste product that the firm markets internationally with an ingredient combination currently not approved by FDA.

The product in question is Colgate Sensitive Multi-Protection toothpaste formulated with a combination of anticaries ingredient sodium monofluorophosphate (1.14%), sensitivity ingredient potassium nitrate (5%) and antigingivitis/antiplaque ingredient zinc citrate (2%)....
