Supplement Sellers Are ‘Essential’ Businesses During Pandemic, NPA Appeals To States

As states and territories order closures of non-essential businesses, with supermarkets and pharmacies considered essential stores, NPA urges governors to consider the importance of its members’ and other natural health product firms’ contributions to their communities.

The Natural Products Association is asking all US states to deem health food stores selling nutritional supplements as “essential businesses” allowed to stay open during the Covid-19 pandemic and to request federal Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance.

The requests made in a letter submitted to governors on 18 March are part of the trade group’s Covid-19 work announced the previous day that includes educating lawmakers, briefing media and providing resources for industry,

Overall interest in vitamin, mineral and supplement products is higher in several other countries, according to Statista.
