Shiseido Reinforces US Position, Taps Dermocosmetics Growth With Dr. Dennis Gross Acquisition

Acquisition of the doctor-led “#1 At-Home Peel” brand continues Shiseido’s work to build its Americas business and strengthens its game in the dermocosmetics space, which has been growing fast since the pandemic. The firm’s net sales in the first nine months of 2023 increased 5% like-for-like to ¥722.4bn.

Shiseido Company, Ltd.’s planned acquisition of DDG Skincare Holdings LLC, owner of dermocosmetics brand Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, will give it a strong position in the booming doctor-led skin care market and fuel growth of its Americas business, it says.

The Japanese company’s board of directors adopted a resolution for the transaction on 20 December, and on 22 December its Delaware-based Shiseido Americas Corporation subsidiary signed a definitive agreement to acquire the New York-based business,

Touted as the “#1 At-Home Peel,” the brand’s portfolio stars the Alpha Beta daily peel series “for smooth, radiant skin in two minutes,” Extra-Strength Daily Peel, Daily Essentials Peel, Resurfacing Liquid Peel, Retinol + Ferulic Treatments, and others
